Privacy policy

fpv.cat collects no personal data. Here we explain what’s stored on your device and which external services the site uses.

What data we collect

No personal data. fpv.cat has no sign-up, uses no cookies of its own and has no ads.

To find out which pages are useful and improve the guide, we count visits anonymously with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service. For each visit, only the page, the site you came from, the browser, the operating system, the screen size and the approximate country are recorded. GoatCounter does not store your IP address, uses no cookies and cannot identify you or track you across sites.

What is stored on your device

  • Pre-flight and maintenance checklists: the boxes you tick are saved only in your browser, so you can pick the list up again. They aren’t sent anywhere and you can clear them with the “Reset the list” button.
  • Battery logbook: the batteries, cycles and notes you enter are saved only in this browser. They aren’t sent anywhere; if you clear your browser data they’re lost, which is why you can export them as JSON or CSV and import them again.
  • Music: if you stop the music, that preference and the position in the song are saved in this browser.
  • Build course: your course progress and, if you tick “Remember me”, your course access are saved only in this browser. They aren’t sent anywhere.
  • FPV Assistant: Blackbox logs, diffs and everything you type are processed inside your browser and aren’t sent anywhere. Only the last open tab is remembered, for the length of the session.
  • My hangar: your drones, photos, configurations, linked batteries and flight log are stored only in this browser. Nothing is sent anywhere; export them if you want a copy.
  • Guided tuning: the logs you download from the drone or load are analysed inside your browser and are not sent anywhere. This browser stores a summary of each round (the numbers, the lights and the changes applied) so you can carry on another day; the “Start again” button deletes it.
  • OSD editor: the OSD layout you create is remembered in this browser.
  • Flight replay: the Blackbox log and the video you load are read on your computer; they are never uploaded.
  • Simulator: settings, radio calibration and best laps are saved only in this browser.
  • Share links: the rates converter, the thrust calculator and the compatibility checker can put your values in the page address (after the # symbol). That part of the address isn’t sent to the server; only the person who receives the link you share can see it.
  • Offline mode: the app saves a copy of the pages on your device so you can read them without signal.

Third-party services

  • Analytics: GoatCounter receives the anonymous data described above. It isn’t used for advertising or shared with anyone.
  • Hosting: the site is hosted on an external server which, like any server, may log technical data about visits (such as the IP address) for security and operational reasons.
  • Fonts: the site’s fonts are hosted on the site itself, so no request is made to Google Fonts or any other external service.
  • Weather forecast: on “Can I fly today?”, the browser requests the forecast from Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) with the coordinates of the place you choose, and the Kp index from NOAA (swpc.noaa.gov). If you use “my location”, your position is only sent to Open-Meteo to get the forecast, and the place is saved in this browser.
  • Maps: in the 3D replay, if the log includes GPS, the map images are loaded from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org). The log never leaves your computer; only the map tiles for the flight area are requested.
  • Demo mode: the simulated drone runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.
  • Betaflight firmware: in the assistant’s “Firmware and backups” tab, when you prepare the firmware your browser asks Betaflight’s public build service (build.betaflight.com) for your board’s firmware, sending the board name, version and chosen options. Your configuration is not sent. Like any server, it may log technical data such as the IP address. Configuration backups are kept in your hangar, in this browser.
  • Betaflight presets: if you open the presets section of the assistant, your browser downloads the list and the files from the public Betaflight repository on GitHub. Like any server, GitHub may log technical data about the request, such as the IP address.
  • Betaflight version notice: on the assistant page, your browser checks at most once a day which is the latest Betaflight version published on GitHub, to let you know if the assistant’s data has fallen behind. As with any web request, GitHub sees the IP address; nothing else is sent.
  • Videos: chapter videos don’t load until you click on them. They then play in the YouTube player in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and Google’s privacy policy applies.
  • Connecting to the drone: the assistant’s USB connection goes directly between the browser and the flight controller (Web Serial). No data from the drone leaves your computer.
  • YouTube: the site links to the fpv.cat YouTube channel. If you click it, you go to YouTube and Google’s privacy policy applies.
  • Background music: when you first tap the site, a song starts in the YouTube player in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). When this happens, YouTube (Google) receives technical data about your visit, such as the IP address. If you stop it with the ✕, it won’t play again in this browser until you start it again with the ♪ button.
